On October 3, 1997, Nichole Collins and Lauren Barry went camping near Tathra and Bega Roads in New South Wales, Australia. The group was celebrating Labour Day weekend along with Lauren's birthday. At 10 pm on Sunday, October 5, Lauren and Nichole decide to walk to a party in nearby Jellat Jellat, five miles away.

It should have been a safe journey.
