Betsy and Bobby go over what they want this show to be and how it came about. Then they take time to define a few basic terms at the center of any conversation about trans people. Also, Betsy has her first rant of the pod at 44:21!! Terms we discussed: -AMAB/AFAB: Assigned male at birth/assigned female at birth. Assigned genders based on a person's anatomy at birth. -Trans: Latin prefix meaning "on the other side of". If your gender identity does not align with the one assigned at birth, you are transgender -Cis: Latin prefix meaning "on the same side of". If your gender identity does align with the one assigned at birth, you are cisgender -Transmasc/Transfem: Short for transmasculine and transfeminine; useful shorthand for trans people and their identities -Nonbinary: Often shortened to NB or "enby". Umbrella term for people who's gender expression and identity fall outside of the traditional male/female binary. -TERF: Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. These people are not feminists, they're just transphobic bigots. Don't listen to them. Laugh at them and tell them to take several seats. Special thank you to everyone who helped and supported us getting here, we couldn't have done it without you!! Please spread the word, subscribe, rate and review - and give us your feedback!!
