Dodgers were shutout until the 9th when Gavin Lux knocked it 2 as they only managed 4 hits on the night. Tyler Glasnow gave up a leadoff homerun part of a 2 run first for the Reds. He would settle down a bit  striking out 8 but in the end suffers the loss surrendering 4 runs on 6 hits.

It was a classic pitchers' duel for 10 innings, and Teoscar Hernandez and the Los Angeles Dodgers finally broke through in the 11th to take the first game of the series against the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was outstanding in his seven scoreless innings, his best performance in his big-league career. Yohan Ramirez, forced into a huge save situation because of recent bullpen usage, allowed an RBI single to Aaron Judge but locked down his first save of the season.
