Emily Hikade is the founder and CEO of Petite Plume Luxury Sleepwear. Made with chemical-free cotton and impeccable attention to detail and comfort, the European-inspired pajamas are carried in over 500 boutiques as well as major retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and J.Crew. Prior to launching a luxury pajama brand in 2015, though, Hikade’s life looked majorly different. For almost 15 years, she lived and worked in countries the Middle East and East Africa focused on counterterrorism as a member of the CIA. In 2017, the outdoor space surrounding Allison Messner’s home in Northern California was destroyed by a devastating wildfire. In the aftermath, Allison and her husband decided to hire a landscape designer to help them rebuild their green space, but they quickly realized how difficult, long, and expensive the process was going to be. The two began developing an idea to make the process more efficient and accessible by incorporating new technology, and in 2018, they launched Yardzen, a digital landscape design and build platform. Today, the company operates in all 50 states with a network of hundreds of designers and architects. But before Allison disrupted the landscape industry, she reported as a journalist in Alaska, worked at a prestigious PR firm, was CMO of the tech company OpenDNS when it was acquired by Cisco for $635 million, and even started her own venture capital firm.

Today, Idriss’s influence in the skincare world is threefold. Since graduating from her seven-year medical program, she’s amassed an audience of over 3 million people, opened her own dermatology practice, and created a skincare line called Dr. Idriss, which just launched at Sephora.

As a child, Nidhi Kapur constantly repainted and redecorated her bedroom, but she never thought that she would actually pursue a career in the design industry.
