On this episode of The Angry Millennial, we're chatting with commercial portrait photographer, Dan McClanahan.  Dan McClanahan is a commercial photographer based in Iowa of McClanahan Studio run by Dan himself + his wife, Alex. Having the awareness of investing in their future, they forewent getting a house early on to save and launch the studio, then investing in a building to set themselves up for a while.  We chat about starting his studio right after the recession hit in '08, getting his first big break shooting his alma mater Iowa State learning on the job, and how important patience plays in your creative career. Recently, Dan won the Chimera Visionary Contest and been having some success with print competitions as well. On top of all this, the biggest development was having their first child, a beautiful baby girl whom Dan calls his new muse. PJ is a California native, born in Santa Barbara + grew up in downtown San Francisco, where his affinity for graffiti and letter forms was born. He spent his earliest years beautifying the local transit system, before a show at the SFMOMA catapulted PJ into the world of fine art. Studied in illustration and computer animation, PJ went on to develop his repertoire of logo, music video and illustration work at his design studio Laundry which he co-owns and co-creative directs with longtime friend Anthony Liu.
