Men are from Mars. Women are from Venus. Bet you’ve heard that before. The idea that men’s brains are wired for logical systems and map reading, while women’s brains excel at emotional intelligence and intuition is deeply culturally embedded. And, it’s complete garbage. Professor Gina Rippon is an international researcher in the field of cognitive neuroscience, and in her book, The Gendered Brain, she looks at the infuriating persistence of the idea of brain difference, and it’s misogynistic roots. In this conversation, Professor Rippon is interviewed by Fauziah Ibrahim and they explore her own experience of the difference within her own family.
