Tim Duggan is the co-founder of several digital media ventures, most notably junkie media. He is also the Chair of the Digital Publishers Alliance, an industry body that represents over 150 titles from leading independent digital publishers. Meta's recent decision not to re-sign deals with some news Aussie publishers has set in motion a chain of events that could see them pull news from Facebook and Instagram. So, we sat down with Tim to chat about what that means for publishers and you as news consumers.

Annabelle Hickson is the founder and editor of Galah Magazine, an independent print magazine that captures regional Australia and the people who live there. With the return of several big magazine titles this year, we ask her if there is a growing desire for non-digital experiences. We also talk about the lack of local newspapers and how that might be feeding perceptions of rural and regional Australia that aren’t quite accurate.

Made in the UK, it’s described as a dark comedy drama-thriller miniseries, but it’s the label it gave itself that has thrust the show into the news - ‘this is a true story’. Cue a debate about entertainment and the truth in the era of streaming platforms that aren’t necessarily putting much stock in compliance with broadcasting codes of conduct. It’s an issue that has made it all the way to the UK’s Parliament…
