Later today, the ACT Supreme Court will begin sentencing former military lawyer David McBride, who last year pleaded guilty to leaking classified information to the ABC.

Adele Ferguson says this case and others like it are "having a chilling effect" on whistleblowers, who are too scared to speak out.  It comes as the government is examining whistle-blower protections, in the form of a parliamentary inquiry.
