Money and Relationships

Grant and Elena urge everyone to communicate! There are tough topics that affect relationships and money is certainly one. It is vital that couples are on the same page when it comes to money. Grant and Elena admit that when they first met the money discussion was difficult. Elena earned her own money but says as a “free spirit” and a “giver” she spent her money on others. Elena was earning a great living as an actress and between roles and commercials was able to afford a home and several muscle cars. She never spoke about money with any of the men she dated before meeting Grant.

Grant is a numbers guy and when he met Elena he had a clear goal for his financial future. It was important to Grant that the partner he chose had respect for money. Grant explains that you cannot expect to hand over the financial responsibility to the other person and that both people must be on the same page.

Grant also says that he thinks it is sexist to presume women have different views on money than men and that each individual, regardless of male or female, has their own personal views about money. Grant encourages couples to focus on what they do want out of life as opposed to the differences and they will see they aren’t as different as they thought.
