Despite their controversial reputation, psychedelics are being widely used by doctors, shamans, retreat leaders, and more across the world to treat trauma and PTSD. Whether it's Psilocybin, Ayahuasca, or another form of plant medicine, rapid healing can occur when using these medicinal plants. So, how do we learn to unlock the rapid healing power of these psychedelics? Imagine addressing lifelong trauma, PTSD, addiction, and more within minutes, without the need for years of traditional therapy.

Contemplating questions like these inspired this three-part series on Food Heals, where we discuss the healing power of plant medicine. In this series, you'll hear brand-new interviews with leading experts in the field of psychedelics who share their personal healing journey, as well as how you can access the power of plants to heal yourself. Whether you want to grow medicine at home like Paul taught us last time or go to a retreat center like Derek will tell us about today, there is an option for you to explore if plant medicine is right for you.

In the first episode of this series, you heard from Paul Austin, the CEO of Third Wave, a pioneer reshaping our perceptions of psychedelics and guiding on growing your own plant medicine at home.

In today's episode, part two of our series, I'm talking to Derek Januszewski, the founder of Pachamama Sanctuary, an Ayahuasca retreat center. He'll share the story of how plant medicine assisted in his journey to overcome childhood abuse and a decade-long battle with addiction.

Through intense inner work, extensive engagement with medicine, and countless hours of service, Derek has healed much of his trauma. The spiritual healing he received through plant medicine inspired him to start Pachamama Sanctuary, aiming to help others find their own path to health and happiness.

Pachamama Sanctuary, an Ayahuasca center in Southern Maine, was founded in 2019. Since its inception, its mission has been to elevate collective consciousness through the sacrament of Ayahuasca—a tea derived from plants in the Amazon rainforest. It has facilitated profound insights and clarity into past traumas, offering a chance for peace, especially for those grappling with addiction, PTSD, or negative cycles.

Stay tuned for part 3, where I speak with former police officer Nick Motycka, who healed 15 years' worth of job-related trauma. He transitioned from being clinically diagnosed with severe PTSD to no longer meeting the criteria for a diagnosis through the use of plant medicine.
