

The wins just keep on coming for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans.  Notre Dame beat NC State in a lightning storm, while USC beat the pants off Stanford. We start with the Fighting Irish and their electric win, and congratulate Greg for his great prediction about this game from the last episode. We talk Hartman, receivers, tight end touchdowns, Marcus Freeman, and more. We also refresh and adjust Greg’s Rudy take from last week. We then switch to the Trojans and start in the most fun place possible, freshman wide receiver Zachariah Branch. There have only been four games, but all Branch does is score touchdowns in fun ways. Since it was Stanford week, we also talk about former Cardinal coach David Shaw, and spoiler alert it’s not positive.  All of this gets everyone ready for USC’s bye week. Listen and enjoy!

We are back. It’s been the longest in-season hiatus for this podcast in the playoff era, but thankfully we are back. While we were on break the USC Trojans were still terrible and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish played out the string on a meaningless season. However, the most important thing to happen while we were off was Greg doing a live spot for ABC 57 in South Bend prior to the Wake Forrest game. We talk about that and more adventures from Greg in the press box. Somehow that segues into a brief conversation about new Trojan defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn. Which then brings us to the topic du jour of this week, the playoff committee and what a terrible job they do. This is compiled with no one talking about the Alabama sized elephant in the room, the cheating cheaters of Michigan. We then get back to USC and Notre Dame talk with a very brief bowl game discussion and move right into everyone’s favorite topic, the transfer portal. It’s good to be back, enjoy!

This week was another loss for the USC Trojans, while the Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a bye. Now that both the Trojans and the Fighting Irish are out of contention for any important post season games the mood on the podcast is pretty melancholy. Things are so bleak that Greg starts the podcast off with a rant against the media and their treatment of Deion Sanders and Jim Harbough. Gregg is not a fan of the kid gloves being used. Then we get to USC’s loss to the Oregon Ducks and what is there to say. The Trojan defense was the same while the offense continued to look uninspiring. This game really made us question LIncoln Riley and his ability to call an offensive game. We then talk a little about Notre Dame and what’s going on with the offensive line and Sam Hartman’s inability to run playaction. Then we lightly touch on the upcoming games against UCLA and Wake Forest. Finally, the most important topic of the season comes up, Greg will be on TV in beautiful South Bend breaking down some Fighting Irish film.

Halloween came late for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans, with both teams losing this week. We start with the big news, the Grinch will no longer be able to steal Christmas now that USC has fired defensive coordinator Alex Grinch after the Trojans 52-42 loss to Washington. The Washington Offense scored at will against USC. The defense looked terrible and only made a few big plays all night. Even though there were still some strong blame the offense vibes toward the end of this game, the Huskies scored so many points something had to be done. The craziest thing about all this is with a win against Oregon this coming weekend USC is still in the PAC-12 title picture. If the Trojans can blame the defense than Notre Dame can blame their offense. The Fighting Irish offense continued to look boring and predictable against Clemson. Then the Notre Dame defense wasn’t its usual great self, all adding up to a Fighting Irish loss. We then talk about if this is a wasted season for Notre Dame and what comes next. Throughout the episode we also sprinkle in praise for podcast favorite team the Arizona Wildcats. Beardown.

We finally weigh in and and decide it couldn’t happen to worse people. The art of sign stealing gives a great segue into a story about USC defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and the general problem of the Trojan defense. Don’t worry we stay on brand and still blame the offense a little. We then talk about Notre Dame’s defense and preview the game against Clemson. We then move back to USC and talk about their upcoming game with Washington.

There is never a dull moment for the USC Trojans or the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Trojans hosted new rival Utah while the Fighting Irish were on a well deserved bye. We obviously start with USC and another consecutive loss to the Utah Utes. Things look bleak in Trojan country. The team is in shambles and many fans are beside themselves. It is always darkest before the dawn and Michael is ready to keep backing Caleb Williams and the rest of the Trojans. Now Caleb Williams may be a world class football player, but coach LIncoln Riley has failed to impress anyone lately, especially with how the offense has looked. People are saying that Riley looks a little like former USC coach Clay Helton. This episode is not all Trojans, and we do touch on Notre Dames upcoming game against Pitt for a bit at the end.
