When my friends and family starting confronting me about my disordered eating and exercise habits in 2012, I thought there was no way a twenty year old, male, college student like me could have an eating disorder. I thought anorexia, orthorexia and bulimia were just problems that women got for the most part, and that I could not relate to someone with those issues. For two years I struggled with not listening to my body nor what my friends and family were telling me in regards to my obsessive and unhealthy relationship with food and fitness. At my worst, I was 6'2" weighing in at 140 pounds, today I am 180 pounds, much happier, healthier, and represent what a weight lifting vegan looks like.

Today my good friend Sam and I discuss our experiences with male eating disorders on a vegan diet, and how we were able to project ourselves on a path towards health and recovery while maintaining our vegan lifestyle. Sam is a gluten-free vegan, endurance athlete, graduate of Colorado College with a degree in Education, and currently works as an apprentice at the High Mountain Institute in Leadville Colorado. Sam is also a good friend of mine and frequently shows up on my vlog.
