profiter de – Mot du Jour

profiter de – Mot du jour

to take advantage of – French expression

What does ” profiter de ” mean? How do you say ‘ to take advantage of ’ in French? How is is pronounced? How is it used in a French sentence? Listen to me, a French native say it.

profiter de – to profit from – profiter goes along with the preposition DE. I always think it’s necessary to learn a new verb with its preposition. It’s very helpful for later. In this instance, DE will trigger the pronoun EN. In everyday French, profiter de means ‘to enjoy’, ‘to make the most of’ and ‘to take advantage of’.

* « On profite d’être en France pour goûter des tas de fromages. »

* “We’re taking advantage of being in France to taste tons of cheese.”
