On episode 322 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we are joined by Frank Kimbler, a geologist and professor at the New Mexico Military Institute. Over the past decade, Kimbler has dedicated himself to finding physical evidence left behind by whatever crashed just outside Roswell in 1947. Upon triangulating what he believes was the direct impact site, he has found, over the years, more than twenty metallic fragments. Those fragments have been analyzed and tested by various laboratories throughout the years, some of which, carried out with the help of Ryan. Today, Kimbler shares the dramatic history of his findings, the intriguing results of various tests, and exciting news about new metals found out at the site.

On episode 354 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Steve Berg returns to give his fascinating solo presentation from Anomacon 2023, titled, The Weird Stuff: The Role of Absurdity and Surrealism in High Strange Encounters. In this presentation, Berg explains that when it comes to encounters with UFO occupants and cryptids, the cases most commonly used as examples for the strongest evidence are the ones that fit into the framework most easily with our sense of reality, often leaving out the really weird cases. But what if the weirdness was part of the point? Using encounter cases throughout history and focusing on the absurd qualities and “dreaminess” of these experiences, maybe we can discover that the more odd and surreal an encounter is, the bigger the imprint it makes.

On September 12th, 1952, a group of local boys and one of their mothers saw what they described as a "shooting star" that fell to earth on the top of a hill. They soon stumbled upon an object that was glowing and hissing. Near the glowing object they were terrified to see a huge creature, that would come to be known as the Flatwoods Monster. What was it?
