Root Beer

Root Beer is the invention of Charles E. Hires. As legend has it he discovered, developed, stumbled upon or borrowed (aka stole) the recipe while on his honeymoon. Charles trained as a pharmacist so he was probably keen to tastes and smells. He also was aware of what people liked of didn't like as they were sure to complain while picking up the stuff to end what ailed them. Hires become the tycoon of root beer overseeing it's production until 1925 when his son's took over the business. He died in 1937.

There is no right way to make root beer. Brewers from around the world are up to the task of developing their own take. Several things is consistent though: it should have bite, it should feel creamy, adn the head should be big for this sassy drink to be considered classic.
