Imagine living in constant fear of rejection just because of who you are. That’s a reality for many people in the LGBTQ+ community today. Like others in her friend circle, 15-year-old Sakia Gunn found a place of refuge outside of her neighborhood. That refuge, however, turned out to be a false sense of security as young Sakia would be violently murdered there simply because she was gay. Maybe you’ve never heard of Sakia Gunn, but her story needs to be told.
