On this episode, Grant and Chris Wittyngham discuss the headlines from the soccer weekend including Zack Steffen's mistake for Manchester City in their FA Cup semifinal against Liverpool, the end of Matias Almeyda's tenure in charge of San Jose, some general USMNT angst, and a look ahead to the Concacaf Champions League Final. Then, Grant (39:05) interviews Victoire Cogevina Reynal, the Miami- and London-based founder and CEO of Gloria, a soon-to-be-released soccer community app. Cogevina Reynal was on-site at the recent Barcelona-Real Madrid women’s Champions League game that drew 91,553 fans at the Camp Nou. The next day she announced a €10 million commitment from Gloria for the naming rights of the Spanish women’s pro league. She and Grant discuss the impact of the giant crowd in Barcelona, her plans for Gloria and her back story as a U.S.-born Argentine Greek who’s a UN ambassador for gender equality in soccer and a board member of WIST, a nonprofit for women in sports tech.
