telle mère telle fille – such mother such daughter. In everyday French, telle mère telle fille means that a daughter looks or acts very much like her mother, ‘like mother, like daughter’, ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’. It’s a take on the French expression ‘tel père tel fils’.
