1983. Augusta, Maine.
Part 1 - In December of 1983, all of central Maine was pitching in efforts to help search for a young woman who was abducted during a robbery at a local ice cream shop—21-year-old UMF student, Paula Roberts.
A month later, when the city editor of the Kennebec Journal showed up to work, the call of a lifetime was waiting for him: a man who had a first hand account of what happened to Paula... and who had killed her. The catch? He wanted to remain anonymous. But the KJ told him that in order to print the story, he needed to show them where Paula's body was located.
The following day, the anonymous tipster was arrested: 26-year-old David Willoughby. But David insisted he was innocent. It was his step-brother, Phillip, who killed her. Not him. But there's a lot of circumstantial evidence against him... will the jury find him innocent?
This is part one of the story of Paula Roberts, and one of the most sensational murder trials in Maine's history.

1969 - Calais, Vermont.
On the afternoon of September, 12, 1969, a Vermont State Trooper approached a seemingly abandoned camper on a property in rural Calais, Vermont. 
The scene inside the camper was that of incredible violence: the decomposing bodies of James and Iola Hipp were sprawled on the floor having been interrupted by an intruder during their lunch. 
James and Iola were retirees from Lutz, Florida on a month-long road trip of the Eastern US and Canada, just passing through the Vermont country with their dogs in tow. They had no enemies in the area, let alone friends. Who would want to hurt this sweet couple?

The Unsolved Murders of James and Iola Hipp

1981 - Norton, Massachusetts.

In October 1981, 38-year-old Andrew Peter Dabbs, shot his girlfriend, Robin Shea, while driving through Norton, MA, leaving her to die on the side of the road. Robin was just 21. 
At first, police merely wanted to talk to Peter. But when he skipped town, they had no choice but to issue a warrant for his arrest for murder. 
After an encounter that almost got him caught, investigators counted the days until Peter slipped up again. 40 years later, both police and the Shea family are still hoping that day will come.

1987 - Roxbury, Massachusetts. 
It was Labor Day weekend in 1987. 19-year-old Dora Brimage was celebrating her friend’s birthday when she got into a car to head to a club called Joe’s Jaguar. She never came home. Her body was found the following morning at a construction site when the workers showed up for their shift.
For years, Dora’s case sat unnoticed in a pile of Boston’s unsolved crimes. It hadn’t gotten much coverage when it first happened, and it all but seemed like Dora had faded into history. 
Until 2013, when the DNA from her kit was processed for the first time, revealing a killer who had been there all along.
