One of the most shameful events to ever occur in American history happened in the small southern Illinois town of Herrin in the summer of 1922. It would be a horrific labor union massacre that would garner national outrage and would forever stain the area with blood. It would also leave behind a fearful haunting that would linger in a place outside of town called Harrison Woods for more than three decades after the carnage occurred.
