The Ides of March by E W Hornung

This romance novel was published in 1926 and is set in a fictional Canadian town. In this episode, Valancy decides to go to a local "up back" party. When the alcohol flows, things take an uncomfortable turn. Warning: this episode does mention the death and funeral of a character.
