When auditioning for the movie adaptation of Jandy Nelson’s YA novel, The Sky is Everywhere, Grace Kaufman had no idea she beat out hundreds of other actresses for the role. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Grace has been acting since the age of seven and was on the heels of graduating high school when she learned she landed the leading part. The book, which came out in 2010, has a cult following and is one of the young adult genre’s most beloved stories, following high school student Lennie as she navigates the loss of her eldest sister, all while experiencing the joys of young adulthood and first love. In this episode, Grace tells us what it’s like experiencing a break out role at the age of 19 and how she brought a beloved character to life. We also talk about growing up in Los Angeles, working with Cherry Jones and Jason Segel, and the best acting tips she learned on set.   Watch The Sky Is Everywhere now on Apple TV.   Love the show?
