Denise Huskins was abducted while spending the night at her boyfriend’s home in March 2015, but when Aaron Quinn went to report what had happened, he immediately became a suspect. The Vallejo Police Department called her abduction a hoax and stood by that belief until a break in the case came thanks to Detective Misty Carausu 3 months later. Denise’s story is the subject of Netflix’s new series ‘American Nightmare’, and this episode is a deep dive into the case, topics not talked about in the docuseries, and our discussion of the story.

In February 2010, the 4 members of the McStay family - Joseph, Summer, Gianni, and Joseph Jr. - disappeared from their home in Fallbrook, CA. For the next several years, many believed they were voluntarily missing, but their family was sure they had met with foul play. When their bodies were found in November 2013, investigators revisited some suspects they initially talked to, but the man they ended up charging with the murders maintains his innocence to this day.

In the mid 1980s, five women were murdered in Honolulu, Hawaii by a serial killer that became known as “The Honolulu Strangler”. While no one has ever been charged in the case, one suspect who directly lead police to the last victim’s body is believed to be the killer. But unfortunately, Vicki Purdy, Regina Sakamoto, Denise Hughes, Louise Medeiros and Linda Pesce have never gotten justice.

She had been at odds with her family and hanging around an unsavory group of teenagers at the time of her disappearance. On November 22, 1997, Reena was found, unveiling a dark and unimaginable reality. Even the authorities were stunned by the ghastly account of what transpired beneath the Craigflower Bridge.
