Are we Asian? Are we American? Growing up, we are taught many things about ourselves that start to create the foundation of who we become. Add cultural differences and some underrepresentation, and you have some pretty confused Asian American kids with no reference of how to manage the colliding cultures. We want to make our Asian parents proud, but when their lessons and traits start to conflict with what we are being taught in real life, it creates a whole new level of identity crisis that we have no reference of combating.

This week, we discuss what it feels like for us to be Asian American women trying to find and become who we truly are. Being taught to conform to what we can and can’t be as young girls and then being modern minority women who have the world regulating what we can and can’t do, is exhausting! We share how we’ve learned to break barriers and stereotypes as we truly embrace the power of our story.
