EPISODE 002: Strategy Fails When Identity is the Real Saboteur

You’ve done the work. You’ve built the brand, refined the offer, hired the team, launched the strategy - and somehow, the results still don’t match the power you know you’re capable of.

So you tweak. You tinker. You over-analyze. But let me be clear -

It’s not your funnel.
It’s not your team.
It’s not the damn algorithm.

It’s the identity executing all of it.

Because if your self-image is still wired for survival, then every plan - no matter how brilliant - will find a way to collapse under the weight of your unprocessed fear.

Welcome back to The Rewired to Rise podcast- where we strip the noise, dismantle the performance mask, and rebuild identity from raw, unapologetic truth. I’m Tanya Marie Dubé - and today, we’re tearing into one of the most seductive lies high-performing women fall for:

That strategy will save you. It won’t.

This episode is a mirror and a manual. If you’re ready to see where your brilliance is bleeding - and how to recalibrate your identity to finally match the game you’re playing - this is for you.

Let’s begin.

PART 1: Why Strategy Isn’t Enough

Let’s skip the fluff: You don’t have a strategy problem. You have an identity leak.

You’ve got the spreadsheets. The sprints. The color-coded breakdowns. The gorgeous funnels. The high-converting emails. You’ve sat through the masterminds, paid the consultants, tested the messaging… and still - your results are inconsistent. Your energy is fractured. Your launches leave you flatlined. Why?

Because high-level strategies collapse when they’re being run by an identity still wired for survival. Tactics are surface. Identity is infrastructure.

If the woman executing your plan is still trying to earn her worth…if she’s still addicted to urgency, approval, and being the one who always delivers…then it doesn’t matter how strong the plan is - she will bend it to match her internal set point.

You’ll call it burnout. You’ll say it’s a “bad launch window.” You’ll say the algorithm changed.

But what really happened is that your strategy was executed by a version of you who didn’t believe she was allowed to succeed without the suffering.

Let me be even more clear: you don’t need another blueprint. You need a new baseline. One where the identity executing the plan is calibrated to match the power of the vision behind it. Until that happens, your strategy will always underdeliver - because the woman running it is still operating on outdated code.

PART 2: The Sabotage Cycle

Here’s the cycle that high-functioning women die in silently, stylishly - and unnecessarily: you overwork, constantly trying to outrun the fear that if you slow down, it will all collapse. That someone will finally realize you're winging it. That your edge is an illusion. That you're replaceable.

You overthink every email, every launch, every word you say - because somewhere inside, you still believe if you get it “right,” you’ll finally feel safe. Finally feel enough.

You underdeliver not because you’re under-qualified - but because your energy is fragmented. Because half of you is leading, and the other half is bracing for impact.

Then the shame spiral hits. Not loud. Not obvious. It looks like perfectionism. Like ghosting your own power. Like quietly convincing yourself to shrink just a little so no one gets uncomfortable.

And what do you do? You pivot. You rebrand. You hire the tenth expert in as many months. You tweak the container. The copy. The colors. But you never question the operating system driving it all. Strategy becomes your drug of choice. A distraction. A justification. A performance enhancer.

But here’s the truth: You didn’t build this business from sovereignty. You built it from the need to prove no one can take this from you. And now that same identity - the one that created success from pain - is quietly dismantling everything you say you want.

Not because you’re weak. But because performance became your protection - and it’s time to break that contract.

PART 3: The Real Work is Identity Reprogramming

Here’s what nobody told you at the top:

Your subconscious isn’t logical. It’s primal. It doesn’t respond to your strategy. It doesn’t care how hard you work. It’s not impressed by your six-figure month or your booked-out calendar.

Your subconscious only cares about what feels familiar. And if what’s familiar is struggle, over-efforting, codependent success, or praise addiction… then anything outside that will be rejected.

This is why high-achieving women burn out while playing “smart.” Because underneath the goals and the grit is an outdated self-image that says:

“If I rest, I’ll fall behind.”
“If I’m not excellent, I’m nothing.”
“If I shine too brightly, I’ll lose people.”

Until that identity is rewritten - on a neurological, emotional, and energetic level - your nervous system will shut down the very success you’re trying to create.

You can’t out-hustle subconscious shame. You can’t build wealth on an identity addicted to proving. You can’t hold power when you’re terrified of being seen.

The work isn’t surface-level action. It’s subconscious recalibration.

Repetition. Imagination. Emotional intensity. That’s how the new identity gets installed - and the old one finally dies.

PART 4: The Identity Audit Tool

Let’s slow it down and get precise - surgical, even.

Every decision you’re making right now - every plan, every pitch, every team hire, every post - was built by someone. But was it built by the you who is expanding… or the one who is still controlling?

Ask yourself: What part of me created this plan?

Was it the version that’s sovereign and anchored? Or the version still hustling to not be found out?

  • Did she design this launch from clean desire or from desperation to hit a number?

  • Did she build this container from alignment - or from the fear of being too much?

  • Is this timeline built for mastery or martyrdom?

  • And now ask: Would my future self even sign off on this plan?

Would the woman who owns her power without apology even recognize this strategy? Or would she dismantle it in five minutes, look me dead in the eye, and say, “This isn’t it. Start again. From power this time.”

If your current self and future self wouldn’t even collaborate…you’re operating from misalignment. And misaligned action never scales powerfully - only exhaustingly.

So stop making power moves from a scared identity. Audit the source. Rebuild from the one who already has what you’re fighting for.

    PART 5: Fast Fix  -  Micro-Calibrations

Let’s move from theory into embodiment - now.

Pick one goal you’re holding right now. Write it down in its current form - raw, unfiltered.

Now: Rewrite it from your future self. Not the version of you that’s tired. Not the one still trying to earn her success. I’m talking about the version who:

    • Leads without leaking energy

    • Speaks and the room changes

    • Moves without rushing, defending, or over-explaining

    • What does she want? How does she name it? What language does she refuse to use because it shrinks the vision?

Now take it further. List the next three decisions she would make immediately. From that new identity. From that power.

Then - here’s the key - make them No analyzing. No talking it through. No self-sabotage disguised as “being intentional.”

Because the gap between the reality you have and the one you want? It’s not time. It’s not money. It’s the decision you’ve been avoiding.

Collapse the timeline by stepping into the identity that’s already living the life.

She’s not waiting. So why are you?

CLOSING: Your Edge Is Not Optional

Here’s the truth: you don’t need another planner. You don’t need another team meeting or another round of tweaks.

You need to become the woman who can hold what she builds. Because power doesn’t come from your strategy. It comes from your state.

If you want to lead with clean energy, if you want your results to become inevitable, if you want to stop performing and start commanding -

Then burn the version of you that’s still seeking approval, and rebuild the one who doesn’t flinch.

      The Sabotage Shift Challenge

Let me ask you something: what if the strategy wasn’t the problem? What if the funnel, the offer, the team - all of it - were fine… but the woman executing it was still operating from an identity built in survival?

If something cracked open for you in this episode - if you felt yourself in the sabotage cycle...overworking, overthinking, underdelivering, spiraling - then blaming the strategy - I need you to hear this: you’re not broken. You’re just building from the wrong identity.

      It’s time to shift.

The Sabotage Shift Challenge is a 3-day identity recalibration for high-performing women who are done tweaking strategy and ready to confront the real reason their momentum keeps stalling.
