This morning we discuss the serious controversy in Israel today over judicial reform. I attempt to provide a clearer understanding of the issues; the problem, the proposed solution, the problem with the proposed solution, and the solution many hope for. Recognizing this brief presentation is overly-simplistic, I hope it accurately captures the essence of the issues involved, and points to a way forward endorsed by experts across the political spectrum.

Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
