This morning we pay tribute to Rabbi David Weiss Halivni, of blessed memory, who passed away recently. Rabbi Halivni was a giant of Torah life and scholarship, and did not receive the acclaim he deserved - partially because he transcended labels, and influenced a wider spectrum of Jews than most. We discuss the impact of his work, and the influence of his teaching in promoting a life of holiness. I tell the story of meeting him, and why it was one of the most embarrassing incidents in my life.
