Creighton was born with a congenital defect that caused missing fingers on both hands and required his right leg to be amputated above the knee. It wasn’t until his thirties, after being inspired by some athletes you’ll hear about in this episode, that Creighton decided to train for a triathlon himself—which meant he had to learn how to ride a bike and run long distances. With assistance from the Challenged Athletes Foundation, Creighton completed the San Francisco Triathlon in 2008, and has gone on to compete in numerous triathlons and athletic events including the ITU World Championships in Beijing.
