Today I speak to Emma Golding who is an international para carriage driver and mindset coach
Emma speaks about how she got into carriage driving after and riding accident which left her paralysed
We speak about carriage driving and how it works on a competitive stage
The teamwork and trust needed between driver and groom when competing
How It was never a question of coming back to horses after her accident and it was only down the line that she started to be affected by it
That the thoughts and worries she was suffering from led her to seek out ways to deal with it as it was starting to affect her enjoyment of the sport
This led her to want to help others who were suffering from the same problems and trained herself as a mindset coach
We then discuss the similar issues she sees come up with Equestrians
How that just because you are at the top of your sport doesn't mean you don't suffer from these things too
We also talk about how receptive our horses are when we tense up so controlling our own nervous system is so important
And how it feels to represent your country at the top level and knowing that you are an inspiration to others around you
