As if we needed more violent clashes between the BJP and the TMC - they were at it again at Amit Shah’s rally in Kolkata and this time it resulted in the destruction of a 200 year old statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. And now the EC has ordered that no further election campaigning will be done in West Bengal.
And now it has become a case of Bengal vs BJP outsiders. In fact, Mamata has even doubled up her election campaign as a protest against the vandalism of the statue by what she calls 'outsiders'.
In this episode of The Big Story, we’re going to look at how the violence broke between TMC and BJP on 14 May, how it has been turned around to be a case of Bengal vs Outsiders and how this has effectively changed the political pitch right before the final phase.
