Markets tanked on Monday amid fears of the impact of the second wave of Covid and consequent lockdowns impacting the economy. India has the second-highest number of cases globally, behind only the US. 

The BSE Sensex ended at 47,949.42, down 882.61 points or 1.81%. The Nifty was at 14,359.45, down 258.40  points or 1.77%.
