Continuing our series of previewing positional camp battles for the 2023 Arizona State Sun Devils football program takes us to the defensive side of the ball and into the trenches with the defensive line. New defensive coordinator Brian Ward has a lot of interesting talent to work with between his edge rushers and his interior defensive linemen and it should lead to some intriguing and perhaps even controversial camp battles. On the edge, veteran Michael Matus returns from an ACL injury sustained last year and must now fend off transfer Clayton Smith, position-switched B.J. Green, and several other youngsters looking for playing time. Inside, transfer Dashaun Mallory appears to be the only sure thing with lots of unproven newbies to both the position and the team as a whole like C.J. Fite, Anthonie Cooper, Tristan Monday, Samuel Benjamin, and others will battle for playtime. Host Richie Bradshaw looks at the defensive line as a whole and breaks down how the lack of certainties could play out for the Sun Devils on this edition of the Locked On Sun Devils podcast.
