#23: Monks Dealing With Conflict - Monk Mindset

Listen Later

Living in a monastery with 50 other monks, conflict is inevitable. A wise monk once told me that it's like throwing a bunch of rocks into a dryer. Over time the jagged rocks become smooth from bouncing off each other. This happens in any of our relationships, it takes us some time to get to know each other's flaws, likes, and dislikes. What helped us a lot is taking the Myers-Briggs personality test. Once you have an understanding of someone's personality and still have conflict, the way to resolve it is to first go to that person and talk to them about it. If they don't listen and the conflict continues then get a friend and go and talk with that person. If they still don't listen then get an authority figure and go with that person. This is how conflict is dealt with in the monastery. Hopefully, this will give you some framework on resolving conflict in the future. https://MonkMindset.com
