Listen Later

Today I want to share a few things to prepare you for next weeks amazing episode with Dr. Kenneth M Adams PHD. I will introduce Dr. Adams more in next weeks episode but today, I want to offer a few suggestions to prepare you for another opportunity to growth and healing in your journey. With his latest book, A light in the dark, The hidden legacy of adult children of sex addicts co authored with  Mary E. Meyer, Ph.D., LMFT, and Culle L. Vande Garde, LCSW  where they detail the unique issues experienced by adult children who grew up with a sexually addicted parent. This book offers a path to unburden their shameful legacy and embrace sexuality and intimacy without the intrusion or constraints from the past.So what does this have to do with you and having an empowered divorce? SO MUCH!As the betrayed partner of an addict, this an important piece that has not been looked at or studied like Dr Adams and his colleagues have. It was a light bulb moment for me reading this book and I am seeing more ways to not only heal myself, but be available to help my children heal their wounds as adult children of a sex addict parent and a betrayed parent. Join me today, in preparation to next weeks episode, I offer you a place to start this work. Owning your story. Because we can't write a new one until we own the current one and place the chapter to rest in a healthy way.
