In this episode, we speak with Rabbi Dan Liben, of Temple Israel of Natick, about faith and grief. Lots of people talk about faith. They may talk about faith in God or faith in man or faith in science, but what is faith? How does faith help us during times of distress? Perhaps, instead of faith, people are talking about a kind of trust. Is faith something we should consciously think about in our everyday lives? Rabbi Daniel Liben was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1983, and became the spiritual leader of Temple Israel of Natick, Massachusetts, in 1991. He is a past president of the Massachusetts Board of Rabbis, and of the New England Region Rabbinical Assembly. Dan has made the exploration of prayer as a spiritual practice a cornerstone of his Rabbinic work. Dan has taught meditation to Rabbis at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Dan also teaches Israeli Folk Dancing and likes running. Dan is married to Fran Robins Liben and together they have five grown children and eight grandchildren.Most importantly, Dan is Michael's brother. Collectively, they are bereaved of their father and Michael's daughter/Dan's niece Liel.
