A ring of gold in the snout of a pig is a woman who is beautiful but without discretion. Proverbs 11:22.
A ring of gold in the snout of a pig. A metaphor of mismatched things. The matching of the gold ring and the pig is paired with the remainder of the proverb about a beautiful woman without discretion.  The pig could represent the beautiful woman who lacks good sense. However, in the structure of the metaphor, the gold ring may represent the woman, while the pig is the one wearing her—that is, her husband. Rather than having a wife who is his crown (Proverbs 12:4), he has an empty-headed wife who makes him look foolish. Either interpretation admonishes men to choose prudent wives.
