This episode we’re chatting to the inimitable Sophia Roe. Sophia is a chef and wellness advocate whose entire career is built on the basis that food is inherently political. Her new Vice series, Counter Space, looks at the world’s most pressing political issues through the lens of food, from the innovation of 3D meat in Spain, to how Mexico is tackling deadly diseases by banning overproduced food, and the way political dissent in Hong Kong is directly tied to street food culture. Sophia is infectiously obsessed with food, equality, and racial justice—and has amassed a cool 270,000 Instagram followers with her informative daily Instagram Lives, covering everything from code-switching to spiritual bypassing, and redlining. In May Gigi Hadid had Sophia on her Instagram channel to discuss racial justice, and she has been an endless source of education and inspiration to us both this year. Listen now, and fall in love.
