Artist, curator, and visiting assistant professor at The New School, Gabrielle Bendiner-Viani, joins us to discuss her new book, Contested City: Art and Public History as Mediation at New York's Seward Park Urban Renewal Area, which breaks down the complex history behind this 50 year long fight for affordable housing in Manhattan's Lower East Side. On February 12, The New School will host a book launch.

A new documentary, "Genesis 2.0," focuses on woolly mammoths and the scientists who want to bring them back to life. Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Christian Frei, (at 26:22) joins us to discuss making the film and what it was like to follow a team of mammoth tusk hunters in Siberia and scientists who may hold the key to resurrecting the extinct species. “Genesis 2.0” is now playing at the IFC Center.

Investigative reporters Liliana Segura (at 37:28) and Jordan Smith join us to discuss their seven-episode podcast series for The Intercept, Murderville.
