SERIES: “MISSING PIECES: IS THERE SOMETHING I NEED BESIDES JESUS TO BE SPIRITUAL?” Paul’s letter to the church at Colossae is designed to address issues raised by the Epaphras, the founder of the church in this located in the region of Phrygia, in south central Asia Minor. The “city” was considered to be an “inconsequential market town” by the time of the Roman empire, but nonetheless, it developed some strange thoughts about spirituality that needed to be corrected, namely the idea that you needed “Jesus and…” something else to be considered truly spiritual. The purpose of this series will be to look at the issues they had, and translate it to false ideas we may have in our day about what spirituality is all about.
