There’s a really common idea that you’ll find in most religions, sometimes even christianity, that says that somewhere there is a God and he is good, but the only way to get to him is by doing good. But where did that idea even come from?

This weekend, as we continue our sermon series, Seeing Jesus, we’re going to talk about how that belief, as common as it is, is not the way we see God revealing himself in either the Old Testament or the New Testament.

Questions for your small group discussion or personal study:

1. Why do you think that it’s so easy to feel like in order to get God’s attention or his love we have to be good?

2. Read Exodus 12:1-14 and Matthew 26:17-30. What is God preparing us to see in Jesus?

3. When did you (or have you) come to realize that all you needed to do was trust God in order to have a relationship with him?
