This week, we talk about what the decaying internet means for regular people – especially those who rely on janky, corporate owned hosting platforms to maintain archives of their work, or cherished old memories.  Alexis and Helen outline the scale of the problem, and explain why, despite its  urgency, few tech companies are interested in the work of preserving and conserving our data. 

We then talk about the work of volunteer and non-profit organisations, including the Accessible Archivists Coalition,  working to preserve older versions of the internet, and discuss some of the strategies you can employ at home to extract your online history, and the tools you can use to preserve it for the future.
