While we are surrounded by the language of atonement and sacrifice in the New Testament, sometimes we experience a mental disconnect with this language due to our separation from the actual offering of such sacrifices. Reconnecting with the reality of the purpose of the sacrifices can help us to rightly interpret the atonement of Jesus and the righteousness of God, as well as other concepts familiar to Christianity.
