It is a paradox of international relations that U.S. neighbors in the Western Hemisphere have two primary complaints about U.S.

relations with the region. The first is that the U.S. does not pay enough attention to our neighbors. The second, which is often

the first, is that the U.S. pays too much attention to our neighbors. Once again, Latin America is reeling from a crisis, this one fueled by the

COVID pandemic and some really bad leadership in key countries. And in smaller countries like Haiti and Cuba other kinds of unrest is

unfolding. What can and should the US do? What about the rest of the hemisphere? And what will the region's number one trading and investment partner,

China, do going forward? We discuss with Council on Foreign Relations Latin America expert Shannon O'Neil and Ed Luce of the

Financial Times. Don't miss this episode.
