Jersey Flight Offensive Coordinator Anthony Payton spoke with Play-by-Play broadcaster Nick Kosko on May 12th. Payton joins the Flight organization after spending two seasons in the NAL with the Massachusetts Pirates. Payton was the offensive coordinator in 2018 before being promoted to head coach in 2019. While Payton was the head coach, the Pirates made the playoffs and finished the regular season with an 8-6 record. Payton began his coaching career in 2008 as the offensive coordinator for the Louisville Fire in the AF2. While with Louisville, Payton coached Flight quarterback Danny Southwick. Southwick was in his rookie season of Arena Football and learned the game from Payton. After working with Payton in 2008, Southwick was signed to training camp with the Oakland Raiders.
