Aretha Franklin was one of the most iconic singers ever. But her life wasn't without drama.
Raised in a very busy and religious household, Aretha first got noticed singing gospel, but it wasn't until she made her move to pop in the 1960's that she really started to turn heads. And in a serious way! Franklin rose to fame with her iconic rendition of "Respect" (which, fun fact: is actually a cover) and then went on to have a decades-long career as one of the most renowned vocalists of all time.
Throughout her career, she recorded over 40 albums and won 18 Grammys.
