The name of the game for Arizona State Sun Devils football, especially on defense, will be guys who can play multiple roles and be the keyword of the day - versatile. In a sit down with defensive backs coach Bryan Carrington and defensive coordinator Brian Ward, it was clear that no single defender would play just one role. They want defensive backs to play inside, outside, over the top, in the box, and everything in between. Coach Ward wants his defensive linemen to play on the interior and on the edge and for his linebackers to call out plays. it'll be about veteran leadership and experience, too. And beyond all of that is the special teams unit; one which has a ton of new faces and very little returning from 2022.
