Jesus commanded His followers as the gospel spreads to baptize new converts. This act of obedience is not some sort of hoop a Christian jumps through to be accepted by Jesus. It is simply a public proclamation that you are identifying with the message and life of Jesus. It is a testimony that Jesus has already accepted you and that you are part of the One Body of Christ.
