Geoff got his first camera, a Brownie 127, when he was 8. From then on his career was clear. He went through a range of cameras getting better every time. In his own words "I was trying to celebrate 30 years of shooting commercials by making a "favourite 10" video. I couldn't do it so there are 11 :-) Starting in 1985 a lot are from SD and uppressed but they seem to hold up pretty well.I started as a stills assistant in fashion & advertising in 1970, moving into moving images in 1973. After shooting news, documentaries and music videos I made the move to commercials in 1985. I finally made the move to movies in 2005 after a couple of false starts :-)I've always been excited about creating images and the technology to create those images. I'm still as excited about filming now as I was when I started. I also believe strongly in sharing knowledge and training, this is reflected in the Cinematography Mailing List which I established in 1996 and the amount of workshops that I teach. I have taught workshops in..New York, London, Bristol, Bucharest, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Amsterdam, Paris, Brussells, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Munich, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, Singapore, Auckland, Colombo, Hannover and Mumbai.I've won awards from:-SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) Eastman Gold medalBKSTS (British Kinematograph, Sound & Television Society) appointed FellowBSC (British Society of Cinematographers) Bert Hardy Technical AchivementACS (Australian Cinematographers Society) honorary memberNSC (Netherlands Society of Cinematographers) full memberIn November 2013 I was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of the West of England."
