Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held a town hall on Fox news Monday night to speak directly to Trump voters. Gabriel Debenedetti, New York Magazine national correspondent, and Lauren Gambino, political correspondent for The Guardian, look at how 2020 Democrats are appealing to the president’s base and whether going on Fox news is a campaign strategy or a liability, as the race heats up.

I thought Sanders, as always, spoke clearly and forcefully about the ideas he's been advocating for a generation. The makeup of the room is immaterial to him. We need more Dems who are willing to engage in the art of persuading and disarming skeptics.

@BrianLehrer The problem with Bernie going on Fox is it has treated Fox as a legit new source when they have made the choice to be Trumps mouth piece.

@BrianLehrer Presdential candidates should be encouraged to appear on as many outlets as possible. The more exposure their views get, the better. The DNC is totally off-base.
