It's the Best Road Trip in Baseball: Joey Mellows, known on Twitter as @BaseballBrit, is, according to his bio, "a cheerful British chap on a 162-game mission to promote interest in baseball." Specifically, he wants to ignite interest in the United Kingdom, where the Cardinals and Cubs are set to play in June 2020. As part of his journey to 162 games this season, he has thrice tried to see the Cardinals -- and rain has interrupted his experience every time. Mellows joins St. Louis Post-Dispatch baseball writer Derrick Goold to talk about the origins of his fondness for baseball, his planned unplanned schedule, and why baseball's fan base in the UK has so many insomniacs. There is also a friendly debate about colleges and invitation for the BPIB to go international.Which will happen. Book it. This interview is split between two parts -- one out in the stadium, surrounded by the ballpark vibe, and the other, after the rains came, under cover, in the quiet of the press box. Mellows' work can be found on Twitter (@BaseballBrit) and in the podcasts "Bat Flips and Nerds" and "Absolute Bunts." The Best Podcast in Baseball, brought to you by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of StlToday.com, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and Derrick Goold.
